On Thursday, November 3, 2022, at 3rd Ward Alderman Richard Leja’s quarterly ward meeting, a physical fight occurred between two residents. The Berwyn Police report lists the victim as David Schaefer and the offender as Richard Centracco. At the time of the incident, Schaefer refused to sign a complaint against Centracco. WGN News covered the incident in a segment the following day (see video below). Alderman Leja did not respond to WGN’s requests for comment. Ald. Leja and Mayor Robert Lovero have made no public statement about the incident.
